Prof. Zalewski - the Director of the International Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences - European Regional Centre Ecohydrology under the auspices of UNESCO (ERCE UNESCO) and Chairman of Department of Applied Ecology University of Lodz (DAE UL), during the opening lecture of the workshop on Ecohydrology for the sustainable management of ecosystems and water resources, which was organized in the framework of China-Europe Forum, introduced the Ecohydrology concept and its ongoing implementation for IWRM.
The International Advanced Study Course: “Ecohydrology & Ecosystems Biotechnologies in Water Resources Management” is organized for young scientists, PhD students, practitioners and decision makers. The number of participants will be 15-20 people, and 50% of the participants will be women.
Polish coordinator: Kinga Krauze, Tomasz Staszewski. Duration time: 2010-2013.

Opportunities and Concepts for Water Hazard Mitigation, and Ecological and Socioeconomic Sustainability. 19-23 May 2008, Lodz, Poland. Under the auspices of International Hydrological Programme UNESCO. Conference sessions will be organized around regional perspectives (Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe, North and South America). Their aim is to present a range of contrasting philosophies and associated practical approaches appropriate for different parts of the world in relation to the Millennium Development Goals.
